Do You Create Church Vidoes Like These?

Long story short, these videos were allegedly created by Davin Bryngrim for his final project at a local Dallas, TX junior college. In order to receive credit, he had to show the films in public. He debuted them at the Echo Conference.

The Church Creative

This is a guest post by Adam Kring, a ridiculously talented video guru. Adam is a production designer at NewSpring Church, an active blogger and Twitter user.

The ʻchurch creative.ʼ

Heʼs the dude that sits at a desk, in a dark room, with only the blue glow of his computer screen keeping him company.  His office is a mess to the untrained eye. Yet somewhere behind his thick-framed glasses and reasonably trimmed facial hair he has a system that only makes sense to him.

Sure, he can make graphic artwork, get your bulletinʼs printed each week, put together the worship slides for the weekend, and make a baptism video somewhere in between occasionally answering the technical questions of the staff and setting up the new stage design for the upcoming series.  Oh, and letʼs not forget about the website he maintains.

But do you need him?  Why do we need church creatives?

What Fuels You?

FuelFuel (no, this is not a BP related blog post).

I want to know what fuels your creativity? What fuels your productivity?

For me, in terms of creativity, music plays a big part. I listen to Pandora, and some of my favorite stations are based on Relient K or Anberlin (pop-punk is awesome!).

It also helps me to see what others are creating. I love looking at what people are creating inside the disciplines I am involved with (such as video editing) and outside the disciplines (vector illustration for instance). A source that I find myself repeatedly visiting is ChurchCreate (I especially love their posts tagged “inspiration”).

When it comes to productivity, I read Lifehacker daily and Michael Hyatt. I like the magazine feel that Lifehacker offers in addition to diversity in their articles yet I dig the personal touch of Michael Hyatt.

What fuels your creativity? What fuels your productivity?

You’ve Got To See This Wednesdays

On Wednesdays, I am going to be sharing a video (most likely from YouTube) that you have to watch. Like, I have installed software on your computer and can tell if you have already stopped reading (Don’t believe me? I know you are still reading this…)

Is it productive? Yes. “Brain Breaks” for a set amount of time can actually help you regain focus (I made that up, but it sounds good).

Seriously, this video is one-minute and seventeen seconds of pure creative genius.
