Let’s Exchange Perceptions

Sounds great, right?

Unless you get an email with that heading from a friend that you were supposed to call but didn’t.

This happened to me last week. True story.

And this thing has so much truth in it.

No matter what you do or who you are, get ready to dig in.

And yeah, it stung when I read it. But it was a great example of confronting with care (i.e. carefronting).

Church Communications: Stuff We’ve Learned

The Less We Communicate In A Given Time Period The Better

This is simply common sense.

Or is it?

Honestly, if you looked at what we were doing, we clearly didn’t understand this.

Now, we have made it known that fairness is not a value held by our Communications Team.

Some events have a greater reach and magnitude.

If everything is important than nothing is important.

We do however, help every ministry spread the word by planning so that we can space out special events, etc.

Do What Works

Simple. Obvious. Yet, do we practice this?

I thought of this when I was examining our social media strategy at Family Life Church.

I love twitter. People that go to the conferences I go to love twitter. Our staff loves twitter.

But, the majority of our church attendees and community don’t use Twitter.

They use Myspace and Facebook. Seriously, Myspace is still popular in South Georgia.
