We just finished our annual series “At The Movies”. We got the idea from LifeChurch.tv several years ago and have made it our own.

I wanted to give everyone a behind the scenes look so that you could replicate something similar at your church or ministry.

Best part, we did it on a shoe-string budget…

Spending Time At NewSpring Church

On Sunday, I had the chance to visit NewSpring Church in real life. It was great being there during weekend services (I had the opportunity to attend Unleash ’10).

Because of my job at Family Life Church, I had a sneak peak at what The Creative Punk (aka Pastor Chris Foster) was going to blog about today and it is a great highlight reel of our time with their staff.

So, instead of reinventing the wheel – I thought I would say “dido” (remember that word?).

Here are things The Creative Punk learned at NewSpring Church.

Do You Create Church Vidoes Like These?

Long story short, these videos were allegedly created by Davin Bryngrim for his final project at a local Dallas, TX junior college. In order to receive credit, he had to show the films in public. He debuted them at the Echo Conference.

The Church Creative

This is a guest post by Adam Kring, a ridiculously talented video guru. Adam is a production designer at NewSpring Church, an active blogger and Twitter user.

The ʻchurch creative.ʼ

Heʼs the dude that sits at a desk, in a dark room, with only the blue glow of his computer screen keeping him company.  His office is a mess to the untrained eye. Yet somewhere behind his thick-framed glasses and reasonably trimmed facial hair he has a system that only makes sense to him. 

Sure, he can make graphic artwork, get your bulletinʼs printed each week, put together the worship slides for the weekend, and make a baptism video somewhere in between occasionally answering the technical questions of the staff and setting up the new stage design for the upcoming series.  Oh, and letʼs not forget about the website he maintains.

But do you need him?  Why do we need church creatives?
