Church Communications: Stuff We’ve Learned
The Less We Communicate In A Given Time Period The Better
This is simply common sense.
Or is it?
Honestly, if you looked at what we were doing, we clearly didn’t understand this.
Now, we have made it known that fairness is not a value held by our Communications Team.
Some events have a greater reach and magnitude.
If everything is important than nothing is important.
We do however, help every ministry spread the word by planning so that we can space out special events, etc.

Your Favorites Are Damaging
Your favorite worship song. Your favorite book of the Bible. Your favorite megachurch. Your favorite Christian author.
Like me, I am sure that you could easily name each of those.
But I want to tell you that your favorites are damaging to influencing and connecting with people.
Why?
Because they don’t care.
What is important are their favorites.
Of course you might be thinking, “But what if we share similar favorites?”.
Then I would say, they are less damaging.
Hear me out.
If you are trying to reach those that have not engaged in a relationship with Jesus, than I am pretty sure that their favorite worship song isn’t “God of This City”. Their favorite book of the Bible isn’t Acts. Their favorite megachurch isn’t Church of the Highlands. Their favorite Christian author isn’t Donald Miller.
In fact, they don’t even have favorites in those categories. They don’t even have those categories.
And if we build anything on our favorites, then we are building for us.
Not for the lost and not for God.
