Monday Morning Run-Down

I love lists and really, anything resembling a list (to-do lists, random lists and journaling in bullet points!). I not only like to write them, I like to read them. So, I am borrowing this idea from Ben Arment and I am going to see how it goes for about a month – and I would love your feedback. Without further adieu…

  • I really enjoyed this post by Pastor Mark, “Guard the Margins = Guard Your Heart”. I had never really thought about how margins dealt with spirituality…
  • If you didn’t introduce yourself to all of us on the blog in our “get to know ya” post, it’s not to late! Go there now!
  • I have to be honest, at times, I am tempted to use emoticons in tweets/texts/emails to convey tone but I can’t bring myself to do it, where do you stand on this issue?
  • This weekend, I got care-fronted (aka I got served an affirmation sandwich) by my wife about the way I treat her when I am frustrated. #husbandfail
  • I just read two books that I wish I would have read years ago! I will post more about these soon.
  • I saw this video the other day and I felt kind of weird. Okay, I felt really weird. What are your thoughts?
  • I am launching a new collaborative project this week (fingers crossed, prayers launched) at work and I am nearly giddy!
  • Today it hit me: I am a servant leader today, to be a better servant leader tomorrow. End of story!
  • A friend who I meet a few months ago that happens to live in DC took my boss and I on a tour of Google HQ in DC and we even got to eat the food there, it was amazing. Thanks Travis!

Tell Me About You!

So, as much I love talking about myself (I mean, it is my blog after all) – a blog is really about the community of people that write, read, comment and interact.

Contrary to popular opinions, you can actually cultivate and deepen relationships via social media. For instance, I met Dewitt Robinson through Tentblogger.com and we communicate on a semi-regular basis about blogging, life and family. And guess what, he and his wife are on our support team although we have never met in “real life”!

All you have to do is answer the following 5 questions in the comment (make sure to use your name and if you blog, leave a link to it). Now, this is going to be really lame if it is just me and my mom leaving comments – so get to it!

Q1. Would you rather spend an hour in a Starbucks or the Apple Store?

Q2. Are you a dog person or a cat person?

Q3. Name one book that has shaped you in some way.

Q4. What is your favorite place that you have lived (and where do you live now?).

Q5. How do you read this blog? (ex. Facebook, Twitter, Google Reader, Direct)

Here are my answers (in case you are curious):
Q1. Apple Store. I am not a coffee guy (gasp!) and of course, I am an Apple fanboy.
Q2. Neither. But if I had to choose, cats are the way to go.
Q3. Church in the Making by Ben Arment
Q4. Washington, DC (that’s where we live now!)
Q5. I don’t want to answer this as someone will point at me and yell, “Pride Alert!”. I prefer reading blogs through Flipboard and Google Reader.

Haikus for Haiti & A Beyonce Spoof

First of all, thank you for the mad amount of support and help with my eBook project (more on that in the coming days)! And it is not too late to become a contributor, want to know more?

I wanted to take this post to highlight a two projects that those closest to me are undertaking (I mean, I like to talk about myself a lot, but sometimes, even I need a break!).

So, What Do I Actually Do in DC?

Great question!

I actually am used to it, so don’t worry. In fact, when I was the Communications Pastor at Family Life Church, I got this question quite often because it was a new role and because I was transitioning from the well-known role of ‘Middle School Pastor’.

I thought I would start by referring to our beautiful styled CMIT (Campus Missionary in Training) Manual:
