My Thoughts from #ylmLIVE

I was supposed to publish this yesterday, but I didn’t. My bad…

So I attended the You Lost Me LIVE one-day conference led by David Kinnaman and Mark Batterson with some regional Chi Alpha staff and it was a great day. I blogged my notes but be warned, there is a lot o’ content.

Engaging Culture

“The days are done when it’s okay to get an A in biblical exegesis and an F in cultural exegesis.” – Mark Batterson

This is one of those things that I wish I thought of so that I could’ve tweeted it. It is spot on. And I love the term, “cultural exegesis” because it indicates that we must be serious and studious when it comes to how we handle culture.

This means two things. First, we cannot ignore culture. I feel that in te 90s, we all did this. Second, we cannot simply emulate culture and throw in a little Jesus. This is an easy but harmful temptation. And perhaps I have been guilty of this…

Live Blogging @ Whiteboard Sessions

For the next few days, my blog is going to focus on live coverage of the Whiteboard Sessions.

Jason Young, who is in charge of the conference (and who I met through his blog), asked me to provide blog coverage of the main sessions and tons of other cool stuff going on at the the conference.

I have never been to this conference before but have always loved the concept behind it (it is a one-day think-tank where each presenter brings one idea to the table, er – whiteboard). And some of my favorite bloggers/speakers will be there including Shaun King, Michael Hyatt, Pete Wilson, Tony Morgan and Ben Arment.

Are you ready?

I am. BOOM!

Whether you are attending the conference and missed a session or you wished you were at the event – this is going to be sweeter than a hot fudge sundae on a summer day.

People That Are Reformed, Rick Warren’s Wife & A Heated Discussion

Here are some quotes from the video I am about to share with you:

Reformed people don’t like anything.

…You went on a date with Rick Warren’s wife.

Debt is Dumb (title of a song).

You broke my heart.

I heard about the event called The Elephant Room via Ben Arment’s blog and he posted a clip from the event which was riveting. I love the concept of the event, the format, the civility and the brutal honesty. I hear that you can purchase the DVD, so if anyone wants to send me one, let me know!

Here is the clip:

Sounds interesting, huh? What question would you want to hear answered?
