Whether it is a motion video or a spoken word piece or the recording of an announcement – videos can be powerful tools for communication.
Although I don’t make many videos any more (some of my favorite pieces from the past are: Home for Christmas: Rap & Blame it on the Bible), I now tend to see myself as a curator.
I love an incredible video and these three are worth sharing!
If you haven’t been introduced to the world of spoken word, then this post will rock you. And even if you have, you should stick around…
At our 3-day DC Metro Chi Alpha Orientation for CMITs (Campus Missionaries in Training), Jon Rice shared a TED talk with us during his class on sermon making.
[If you have never heard of TED, or rather, seen a TED video - then this serves as a double bonus. It is an event/website in which free knowledge and inspiration is delivered in bite size chunks less than 20 minutes long. My favorites are David Blaine, Malcolm Gladwell and JJ Abrams.]
So, this video below may be long (in YouTube’s standards), but it is worth it. I guarantee it (or your money back!).
This TED Talk is a spoken word artist talking about communication as well as performing some of her pieces. And the theme is family and parenthood, so clearly an important one.
Did you watch the whole video? What stuck out to you about her poems? Her talk (lecture)?
Recently, I created a video to help people in our church invite people “Home for Christmas” using Facebook.
Although the video is specific to Family Life Church, those of you that are communications junkies may be able to get some ideas for pulling off something similiar.
Our goal is two-fold.
1. Helping people engage their friends in a way that isn’t off-putting (to their friends)
They asked to me to write a post for their blog, Three Story Studio and of course I said yes! I love what they are doing with this blog project.
Their big goal is to become “Your Church Plant’s Creative Team”.
Love it!
They asked me to write about “Why Pastors and Church Leaders Should Blog”.
For those of you that don’t know, I oversaw the launch of my Lead Pastor’s blog TheCreativePunk (aka Chris Foster) and continue to oversee its development.
