A New Morning Liturgy

We all have routines and rituals. You could also call them liturgies. I don't know what you think about when you hear that term, but here is a definition that provided me with a working definition.

a customary repertoire of ideas, phrases, or observances (Merriam-Webster)

It is most often used to describe the order or flow of a church service. Although we tend to associate it with churches that might be Episcopal or Catholic, every church has a way they do things, whether they use that term or not.

Well, I was inspired at a recent gathering of Chi Alpha Staff to plan and schedule my day with intentionality, especially as it revolved around the spiritual disciplines.

So, every day for the rest of the summer, I am going to pray this prayer in the mornings. And although it is easy for me to serve routine instead of utilizing routine to serve a greater purpose, I truly think that a daily recitation will bring clarity and focus to even the busiest of seasons.

What is your morning routine? Do you have any prayers that you say on a regular basis?
