This is a guest post from Allison. She has been a part of our support team since we started working with Chi Alpha and I asked her to talk about why she chooses to invest into reaching students even as a student herself. You can connect with her on Facebook.
Hello, my name is Allison Pitchford.
I’m so excited to get to share a little about myself and why I choose to support missionaries on a monthly basis!
I’m a 21 year-old college student from Brunswick, GA and I'm majoring in Biology. I first met Blane when I was a youth intern and he spent his summers at Family Life Church as a college intern, helping out with the youth group. Even then, his passion for serving God and telling people about Jesus was amazing! The fun and excitement that he brought to our youth group, then and later on as a staff member, was magnetic and certainly never boring!
When Blane and Hannah told our family about the opportunity they had to go to Washington, D.C. and serve Chi Alpha at American University, we were happy and sad – happy to know they were following God but sad to know that part of our family would be moving far away.
One of the first things we asked was “How can we help?” Supporting Blane and Hannah on a monthly basis is such a blessing. I love knowing that my support helps other students like me grow in God.
I love Blane and Hannah. They have been great mentors to me and my brother, so I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to give back to them and their ministry.
I would tell anyone who has the opportunity to support Blane and Hannah or any other missionaries to go for it. It’s the best feeling in the world knowing that you’re making a difference in someone’s life.
