The eBook is…

…delayed.

Yep, totally my fault. And I own that.

I missed a pretty important deadline getting the files to Josh Ford (both friend, college roommate and graphic designer extraordinary) so the eBook is currently “in production”. I will keep you updated on when it is released, I am hoping before October 31st, but I don’t want to make any promises (because we all know how that turned out last time).

And this is how it is going to work:

1. The First 7 Days: Free, No Catches

It’s exactly like it sounds. Plain awesome. Your welcome. No, wait. Thank me later by sharing this with anyone and everyone who both loves and hates icebreakers.

2. Forever Free for RSS Subscribers

After the first week, there is a catch. You can receive the eBook if you subscribe to my RSS feed. So, a little give and take, but what can I say.

The details:

Released via Scribed

This will allow for us to track downloads as well as views, but we are open to suggestions if there is a better alternative…

The New Tithe: What Are Your Thoughts?

I saw this video last week via JesusNeedsNewPR and there is a lively discussion ensuing over there – but I wanted to get your thoughts.

Of course, I want us to discuss this with respect and civility, but when you see this video, how does it make you feel? Is their truth in it?

And I guess the big question, can it truly be considered a tithe if it is not going through and to the local church?

For those of you interested in fact-checking, the creators of the video listed their sources in the YouTube video’s description, which you can see here.

Mail from Mark Batterson [Video Blog]

Thanks to Kelly Shell for letting me know that the video was not working as of 1:35pm (EST). But alas, it is working now…

The Circle Maker: Praying Circles Around Your Biggest Dreams and Greatest Fears is set to release on December 12, 2011. You can read more about it and get to know the author, Mark Batterson, on his blog.

And don’t forget about the upcoming giveaway happening here later this week, more details soon…

Stop Modern Slavery

One of our students at AU Chi Alpha is leading the charge on raising awareness about modern slavery and her passion is contagious.

In case you didn’t know, modern day slavery includes both sex trafficking and labor exploitation. Sadly, both of these tragedies occur on a regular basis in Washington, DC. Recently, a massage parlor less than six miles from our apartment was shut down because the women working there had been trafficked.

This is one of those situation where it is so tempting to ask God, “Where are you when this happens?”. But, I think that it is in these moments, when girls and boys as young as eight are bring sold into the sex trade industry, that God asks us, “Where are you when this happens?”.

My wife Hannah is participating in the walk and raising money for Restoration Ministries, a faith-based organization that helps bring awareness as well as healing to those that have been entrapped in modern day slavery all throughout Washington, DC.

Would you consider giving to the cause in her name?

It costs $15 for her to register for the event and I would like for you to consider donating so that she can be a part of what will be the largest awareness event for modern slavery ever in the district. And perhaps, as a community of friends, we could raise more than just $15. What do you think?

Getting involved…

Drop me a comment (enter your name and email in the appropriate fields) that says, “I want to contribute $__ to stop Modern Day Slavery” and then I will contact you and walk you through the giving process.

Thanks for being a part of this!
