I’m Becoming A Missionary

It’s true.

The formal announcement was made at my church on Sunday.

Long story short, around last Fall, my wife Hannah & I were praying and studying and somewhere along the way God begin to give us a heart and vision for college students in Washington, DC. After much prayer, fasting and seeking counsel from spiritual leaders in our lives, we have made the decision to move to DC to pursue God’s calling on our lives.

It all started feeling official around a month ago when I received my national appointment through the Assemblies of God as a Campus Missionary In Training (CMIT).

I will be working through Chi Alpha, which focuses on reaching and discipling students through community and missional living.

Big picture, my heart is to pioneer (plant) a Chi Alpha Campus Ministry at George Washington University. Until then, I will be working with college students at other campuses in the DC area.

It is a big step of faith for us in many ways yet we are super excited.

I start my training and support-raising in June, which means my last day as the Communications Pastor at Family Life Church is May 31.

First of all, I cannot say thank you enough to Pastor Chris and Ms. Courtney who have been praying with us through this process since the end of last year. Their support and encouragement has made the biggest difference to us!

And to all those at Family Life Church, your kind words in the past several days have meant more to me than you know.

There is so much more to this, but I wanted to let everyone know.

We appreciate your prayers as we are entering a new chapter of our lives.

D.C. is an awesome place with a lot of really interesting people. When I went there several years ago it was a pretty cool feeling to sit on the lawn of white house and just watch people play frisbee right next to one of the most powerful places in the entire world.

Yeah, I have visited a few times. And when God says go, what else can you do, right?

We are so stoked and looking forward to it!

I haven’t finished reading it, but I loved the amount of thought you put into your Facebook Note about y’alls decision about orthodoxy.
